Need a PAN (Permanent Account Number) card ?? Here goes the way how can you get the same online. PAN is a 10 digit alphanumeric number issued by Income Tax Department of India any Indian can get the same that means there is no age limit for getting your PAN.
If you apply of PAN card through a broker you always pay Rs200 or even more than that. But if you apply online you will be charged only Rs.94, i.e actual PAN charge as fixed by Govt Of India.
PAN card application in India is processed by two agencies:
These are just to process your application and that means that they verify your documents and all. And if they are satisfied with the documents you have sent along with your application , then your application is forwarded to Income Tax Department for the allotment of PAN card. For applying visit any of the above agencies ( I used NSDL for the task) and fill the new form-49A, providing all the necessary and required details asked. And once you are done, submit your application, You will be directed to payment processer page. Pay the required fee and that’s it. Now take the print out of the application and affix a passport size photo in that. Sign it and mail (Post/Courier) it to address mentioned along with the SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS. It will take 7-15 days to get your PAN card. It took 8 days in my case.
And , you can call them at their numbers once you are sure that your post has reached their office ( can do so by tracking number provided by courier company or Indian speed post). They are humble and I mean it. Calling them act as a catalyst.
You will get an acknowledgemet/application number after your payment is successful. Note it down for future reference till you get you PAN card.
You can also track the status of your PAN application by visiting
- One address proof – Photocopy of passport/DL/rationcard
- Proof of DOB- Matriculation certificate/Passport/DL
- One Passport size photo –to be affixed in the PAN application
I have sent one photocopy of Passport for both the proofs.
